2026, Gropius House, Lincoln, MA

This proposal reimagines the Bauhaus grid through a playful lens, drawings on its mathematical, geometric, and modular principles to organize architectural elements. The traditional orthogonal Bauhaus grid is gently transformed into an oblique system, establishing a dynamic dialogue between the existing building and the new structure. The dialogue also draws inspiration from the Gropius House and reinvigorates them within the new bathroom.

This proposal honors the Bauhaus commitment to honest construction, allowing form to emerge directly from function and construction logic. The building is supported by a frost-protected concrete stem wall with an integrated slab floor, providing an efficient foundation strategy to the project scale and site context. The exterior walls carry the roof load through beams that highlight the oblique axis.
